FINE LARGE OLD HAND TOOLED BATWING TEXAS STAR SPUR STRAPS. FINE LARGE OLD HAND TOOLED BATWING TEXAS STAR. FINE FANCY LARGE OLD HAND TOOLED BATWING 5-POINTED TEXAS STAR. CONCHOS SPUR STRAPS WITH (2) 2 1/2 CONCHOS AND 40+ SMALL TEXAS. This is a LARGE pair of old style, 1800's bat wing spur straps.

This pair is 11"long x 3 3/8" wide at the curve, with hand tooled border and center panels with scrolls with leaves on a stem with end flowers simulating the Texas rose. The 2 large 2 1/2 diameter domed conchos with the large Texas 5 pointed stars not only proclaim the straps as being Texan, but each prong point of the 5 stars has a hand engraved letter T E X A S. The large domed conchos have scalloped edges with an outside border of large Texas stars, an inside border of small Texas stars, and an inner border of zig zag engraving. The large conchos are affixed to a round grommet that appears to be hand stitched to the bat wing strap. The large brass Texas star also has a zig zag border, and each prong point of the 5 stars has a hand engraved letter T E X A S. The smaller domed border edge conchos also have small Texas brass stars, with 22 on one strap and 21 on the other, with none apparently missing. Each of the small button size Texas star conchos are connected by two brass or copper prongs as seen on the back side. This shows not only attention to detail, but high quality, craftsmanship and artistry. Exceptions include holidays, power outages, and evacuations.
