This is a beautiful and very Fine Antique Old California Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting on canvas, by early 20th century American Impressionist painter, Ernest Allen Cross. This artist is listed in the Inventory of American Paintings by the National Collection of the Fine Arts 1983, U. , but no other biographical information is provided. Perhaps you know more about him or his work?

This lovely image depicts a bucolic and enchanting lakeside plein air wooded landscape scene, likely somewhere in Northern California. Tall pine trees, with delicately rendered foliage, an azure blue lake, and wisps of luminescent sunset tinged clouds are visible overhead. Signed and dated: "Ernest Allen Cross 1902" in the lower right corner. This magnificent manor sized painting is approximately 36 3/4 x 47 inches including frame.

Actual artwork is approximately 31 x 41 1/2 inches. Due to the large size of this piece, S&H costs will be unavoidably high. Very good condition well over a century of age and storage, with moderate gilding loss and scuffing to the impressive hand carved early 20th century gilded wood frame please see photos. This painting has been professionally re-lined onto a newer canvas for preservation purposes, likely sometime in the mid 20th century see Photo 24.
