This is a beautiful and vibrant Antique Iowa Plein Air Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting on canvas, by Waterloo, Iowa painter Frank G. This work depicts a wonderful scenic view of a wide prairie and purple hills, with a lone cowboy with a lasso herding steers, while his dog attempts to help out. This work is signed: "Eicker" in the lower right corner, and signed, titled, and dated on the verso: Bringing In The Strays by Frank Eicker. Approximately 27 1/2 x 41 inches. This work appears to have been painted on the verso and sides of the canvas with tan colored paint in recent times, possibly an attempt to preserve it? Good condition, with some light edge wear, spots on tan paint drippings, and one small tear please see photos. This is a very nice American Plein Air painting from a rarely seen regional location.
