Antique Bronze Eagle Sculpture, Triple-tier Marble Plinth, on Branch, J Moigniez

This stunning 19th century bronze eagle sculpture was produced by prominent animal sculptor Jules Moigniez (born 1835, died 1894). Moigniez was known for his highly detailed and lifelike work, as well as his unique and intricate bases. All these qualities are spectacularly evident in this eagle sculpture signed by the artist.

The 30 height perfectly showcases every detail of the bird, from its sharply articulated talons to its exquisitely rendered feathers. The eagle is captured in the moment of landing on the branch of a gnarled tree. This sculpture features a thick and unique base; the tree ends with a metal sculpted and detailed base, which sits on top of a triple layered marble plinth - green, white, and green again. This gorgeous piece and others by Moigniez have helped set the standard for bronze wildlife sculptures for over 150 years.
