Incredibly beautiful, highly detailed, 19th to early 20th century American landscape painting! I have not been able to make out artist signature. Signed in red on front lower right. Second signature is farther to right (foreground) and is faint. Signature is beneath surface painting.
Region: This looks to be Yosemite, California but not certain. Medium: oil on wood panel. Dates: exact age is unknown as painting shows no date and artist has not been identified.
Painting appears to be from late 19th century up to early 20th century. Frame- 27.75" x 39.75". Condition: In my opinion, the painting looks to have been revarnished within the last decade or so but not certain. There is heavy yellowing, toning from age, areas with small stains, white paint drips, paint flecks, paint loss, paint brush fibers are visible in several areas (not uncommon), frame abrasion. Pin holes from previous hanging, paint chips, rubbing, areas with light paint cracks from age, deep scratch lines along with other wear.
Possibly restored and had previous touch ups (revarnished). Considering the age this painting is in good condition! The most visible wear is the yellowing/toning and the tiny stains. Worthy of restoration and or touch up. Frame condition: This wood frame appears to have been hand painted and or repainted over the years.
The painting certainly could use a nicer period frame but this one does hang nicely. Frame has paint loss, surface scratches, scuffs, abrasions, dings, corners have light separation/cracks, chips, dings and wear. Back shows heavy paint drips.
