1882 Large (38 x 65 in)'Map of Western Palestine' with Biblical History

96.5 x 165 cm (38 x 65 in). Map of Western Palestine from surveys conducted for The Committee of the Palestine Exploration Fund.

Reduced from the one inch map in twenty six sheets. Special Edition Illustrating The New Testament also The Talmud and Josephus (after the birth of Jesus). This is a fine example of this special edition of Kitchener and; Conder's map of Western Palestine, published in 1882, the year following the issuance of the first edition of the map. It stretches along the eastern Mediterranean coast from Tyre in the north to Gaza in the south, inland to the Dead Sea up the Jordan River to the Sea of Galilee and Mount Hermon. The present example of the map is based on the work of Trelawney Saunders in An Introduction to the Survey of Western Palestine.

It highlights Palestine in the New Testament period, with Biblical place names and important sites.
